Lagos Doctors, NMA Call Off Strike

The 10-day-old strike action embarked upon by medical doctors under the Lagos State Government and the Lagos branch of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, was on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 called off.

Members of the Medical Guild had on the Monday, March 16, 2015 embarked on an indefinite strike action for an alleged non-payment of salaries by the State government.

A statement by the State Secretary of the NMA, Dr Babajide Saheed states that full services resume from 8:00 am, Vanguard reports.

The consensus to call off the strike was made after an extensive deliberation during the emergency general meeting at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.

The association also set up committee to make sure that the government kept their promises.

The statement further disclosed that the the committee will report two weeks after the Governorship elections billed for April 11, 2015.
