Man Arraigned For Abetting Theft In Abuja

NAN – The police on Wednesday arraigned a trader, Luke Paul of Waru village, Abuja at the Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly abetting theft.

Paul is standing trail on a one-count charge of aiding theft.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Israel Nongo, told the court that one Franky Israel of Waru village, Abuja, reported the matter at the Apo Police Station on Feb. 14.

He further said that the accused aided one Moses, and another suspect to “ disappear.’’

He said that the persons at large, “stole N400, 000 cash, one Samsung Galaxy phone valued at N75, 000, one big tiger generator valued at N35, 000 and one HP laptop valued at N130, 000 from the complainant.’’

He also said that the offence contravened Section 83 of the Penal Code.

The accused person however pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko granted the accused bail in the sum of N20, 000 with a surety that must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

He adjourned the case till March 25 for hearing.
