Man Arrested For Defrauding 4 Clerics In Ebonyi

NAN – The Ebonyi Police Command on Wednesday, May 12, 2015 confirmed the arrest of a suspect who allegedly defrauded four clergymen of millions of Naira in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the arrest of the suspect who hails from Oziza Community in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state.

Anyanwu, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki, said the suspect was arrested following a tip-off by his victims.

“Some amount of money he fraudulently obtained from the suspects were recovered from him when he was arrested by our officers.

“He operates a notorious syndicate which he leads as he took us to Delta State where he spent some part of the money fraudulently obtained from one of the clergy men, Pastor Kingsley Nnachi.

“The suspect will be charged to court and will be prosecuted after we have conducted full investigations into the matter,” he said.

He said the command was poised to rid the state of criminals and solicited for cooperation from the public.

“We call on the public to always give the police useful and verifiable information that will enable us nip all criminal activities in the bud while assuring that the information will always remain confidential,”he said.

Nnachi, a pastor at the Assemblies of God Church, Abakaliki, said that the suspect illegally operated as a minister of the church in Lagos, using this to dupe him.
