Man Electrocuted While Stealing Electric Cable In Kaduna

A middle-aged died after he was electrocuted during his attempt to steal a 150mm four core up-riser cable at the distribution sub-station in Kaduna State.

The incident happened on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Accra Crescent by LEA Primary School, Unguwar Rimi area of the state.

Confirming the incident, the traditional ruler of the area, Dan Iyar Unguwar Rimi, Alhaji Muhammad Gidado said that the corpse of the vandal was evacuated from the scene by the police from Unguwar Rimi Division.

Gidado said the vandal was yet to be identified as his face appeared strange in the area. He further called on the law enforcement agencies to step-up patrol as the community has suffered from the activities of vandals in recent times.

The Head, Corporate Communications of Kaduna Electric, the operator of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Mr Abdulazeez Abdullahi, also confirmed the incident and appealed to customers to be more vigilant and report suspicious movement around power supply installations to the police, especially in the night.

Abdullahi lamented that the activities of these hoodlums was causing set back to the company’s effort at providing steady power supply to its customers.

The police disclosed that an investigation has been launched into the incident to ensure the collaborators of the act are arrested and forestall a recurrence.
