A man identified as Kyari Bukar, of Ngomari ward of Maiduguri, was on Monday, December 8, 2014 sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a Maiduguri High Court over charges of conspiracy and robbery.
Bukar was sentenced under sections 97 and 298 of the Penal Code Law of Borno State.
Additionally, the court sentenced the convict’s partner in crime, Hamisu Haruna, to six months imprisonment.
The court was told that the convict, armed with weapons which included knives, cutlasses and sticks, broke into the house of one Hauwa Ngomari and carted away her property, according to Punch.
The police further disclosed from investigations that the convicts had stolen necklaces, four handsets, gold earring and a DVD player, valued at N173,000.
Bukar was reportedly a brother to the complainant’s husband and allegedly attempted to rape one of the victims during the raid.
Commenting on the case, the presiding judge, Justice Alkali Wakil, said, “It is the highest ingratitude by Kyari and his partner in crime.”
