A 34-year-old security guard, Jonathon Walker, had shot and killed his 7-year-old daughter, Kayla Walker, his 31-year-old girlfriend, Shantai Hale and Hale’s 62-year-old mother, Viola Warren.
Their 12-year-old daughter, Christina Walker, who survived the attack on Saturday, January 24, 2015 was said to have called 911 to report the incident but the man escaped before the officials arrived the scene.
The survivor is currently recovering in a hospital where she underwent a surgery on the same day.
It was learnt that Walker had come home on the fateful night of the incident probably intoxicated before he fired shots on the heads of the victims in their home on a suburban-style street in Queens, near a park and John F. Kennedy International Airport New York City.
Shortly after the incident, the man called his brother on phone and said, “What I did, I cannot come back from.”
Police disclosed that they searched for Walker for three housrs and finally found his lifeless body with a45-caliber gun inside his car on a desolate street a few miles away, ending a burst of violence that stunned relatives who said the family hadn’t shown signs of trouble, according to Huffington Post.
Police officials reveal that investigations into what prompted the man’s action have fully commenced.
The incident had thrown the entire relatives of the family into total bewilderment.
Lamenting the tragedy, Hale’s grand mother and the mother of the eldest victim, Doreen Warren, said, “I can’t believe this happened. I can’t believe this happened.
The Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said reports of domestic problems had been previously brought to the force and Walker had been arrested twice although the cases were ended .
Viola Warren’s brother, Wendell Warren, who spoke amidst profuse tears said, ” Warren had fixed a broken boiler at the home just last week.”There was no indication of anything that would remotely make him do this.
“We’ll be baffled for years.”
