The National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) on Monday, May 4, 2015 presented relief materials to victims of fire incident that rocked the Nbodo community in Aluu, Ikwere Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The NEMA Zonal Coordinator, South- South, Mr Benjamin Oghenah, presented the materials to the state Ministry of Special Duties in Port Harcourt.

The coordinator noted that the gesture was to complement the state government’s effort in alleviating the sufferings of the community after fire gutted their houses.

Oghenah implored the community leaders to ensure equitable distribution of the items to the victims.

While handing the materials over to the community leaders, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties, Mrs Ibaniba Briggs-Iti, asked them to distribute them equally to the victims rather than sell them off.

Briggs-Iti advised the community to move on with life and get back on their feet to make up for their loss.

A youth leader from the community, Mr Okachi Ordu, in his remarks lauded NEMA for their kindness and assured that the materials would be evenly distributed to the victims.

Some of the items presented include bundles of roofing sheets, mattresses, cartons of noodles, detergents, wrappers, beverages, and so on.
