EFCC Arrests Ohakim As Lamido Turns Himself In

The Former Imo state Governor Ikedi Ohakim who on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 failed to honour an invitation given by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Headquarters, in Abuja over questioning for alleged corruption and embezzlement of funds, was on Thursday, June 18, 2015 within the hours of 10:05am at his residence located in Asokoro, Abuja, apprehended.

Ikedi Ohakim was the imo state governor from 2007 to 2011 as he had failed to return elected, having been defeated by the then All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidate and now Governor Rochas Okorocha under the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Ohakim’s arrest was necessitated by his refusal to make himself available for grilling by the anti-graft agency on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

Ohakim during his arrest, was conveyed in an unmarked vehicle to the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja.

Ohakim is to be grilled by the EFCC concerning a number of property allegedly traced to him.

Meanwhile, Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State turned himself to the EFCC, voluntarily, to be grilled by the EFCC.
