Plumber Stabbed To Death For Professing Love For Ogun Chief’s Daughter

Residents of Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State are at the state of unease following the death of a 26-year-old plumber, Semiu Sanni, who was stabbed on Saturday, September 26, 2015 during the annual Ojude Oba festival at Omoleye area of Ogijo area of the state.

Sanni died at about midnight of Sunday, September 27, 2015 on the way to Ikorodu General Hospital after he was rejected by a private hospital.

An eye witness disclosed that Sanni, an alleged cultist, reportedly made love advances at the daughter of Oluwo of Ogijo, Chief Mufutau Oduntan.

The chief was said to have warned the deceased to steer clear of his daughter or face his wrath but an argument rather ensued between both parties, Vanguard reports.

Oduntan reportedly met Sanni’s father, Mr Sakurai Sanni, popularly called “Arewa’, while the festival was still in progress and asked him to stop his son from having an affair with his daughter.

Not quite long after the warning, Sanni was said to have been attacked by members of a rival group who stabbed him severally on the neck after which he was left in the pool of his own blood.

After the news of his death broke, an angry mob set ablaze two cars, a building and personal effects belonging toand his immediate family members.

The mob invaded the Chief’s house again on Sunday, September 27, 2015 and chased him and his immediate family members out and set their property ablaze.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident said the suspects had gone into hiding.

Adejobi said: “The DPO has been mandated to fish them out.”
