Police Arrest Notorious Car Thief In Enugu

Officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Enugu State command have arrested a notorious car snatcher, Chidera Ifediegwu.

Ifediegwu, also known as Plantain, was arrested following a gun duel at his hideout on Friday, June 26, 2015.

The suspect, who is also a member of Vikings Confraternity had been on the police list for wanted offenders.

Police source said the activities of the suspect and his gang, had been a torn in the flesh of Enugu residents, adding that recent attacks on policemen at New Haven was allegedly carried out by the group, Vanguard reports.

Confirming the arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr.Ebere Amaraizu, said, ‘’The suspect had been on the wanted list of the command, following attacks on policemen at New Haven axis of the state and other armed robbery and car snatching incidents.

“We were able to apprehend the suspect after a painstaking surveillance which eventually paid off. The suspect was arrested after a shoot out with our men who inflicted injuries on his thigh.”
