The pope arrived the capital Quito to a crowd of Catholic faithfuls who gathered around the route from the airport.
Roman Catholics are expected gather in Quito on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 for Mass.
According to Al Jazeera, the Pope’s message dwells around solidarity with the poor in the region, while trying to rally his church amid dwindling numbers.
He is expected to confront a sex abuse scandal which has tainted the church, said Al Jazeera’s Lucia Newman, reporting from Quito.
The pope would not be visiting his hometown, Argentina to avoid being dragged into the forthcoming general elections in the country.
