Rapist Upset After He Learnt That Victim Is HIV Positive

Must read

A 48-year-old rapist was distressed and upset after he discovered that the man he raped was living with the deadly Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

Phillip Donald Jason, from Sunshine Coast in Australia was charged with rape after he ‘crossed the line’ of a sexual encounter which was initially consensual with the victim.

Addressing the jury last month, Jason’s defence lawyer, Andrew O’Brien said, “He was first made aware of that after he was arrested … and he was obviously distressed and upset,”

Police investigation revealed that the victim asked Jason to stop, but he refused and dared him to file a report of the incident to the police if he wished.

The rapist was made to undergo six months of medical tests after his arrest before he would be given a HIV all-clear.

Jason said, “It’s better to face a jail term than to live with the disease.”

He swiftly pleaded guilty to the charges of rape, robbery and assault and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

Judge Fleur Kingham sentenced him to two and a half years jail and said he would be immediately eligible for parole, reports Sunshine Coast Daily.

It was learnt that a parole board will determine whether Jason should remain in prison or be released with strict conditions.
