Kaduna Gov. El Rufai Loses Father

Governor Nasir El-Rufai, of Kaduna State lost his foster father, Yahaya Hamza, in the night of Tuesday, August 25, 2015.

Late Hamza, who was a former permanent secretary of Federal Ministry of Education was buried around 10am Wednesday, August 26, 2015 according to Islamic rites.

The governor’s spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, revealed in brief statement that Hamza died in the state after a brief illness.

Hamza was survived by wives, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Statement read: “Born in 1935, late Hamza had a distinguished career in public service. Among the positions he held was office of Secretary to the Kaduna State Government. That came after a long and successful service in the education sector. He was also chairman of the council of the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

“Will miss the wisdom and counsel of this great man who became a father to me and guided my steps with tender firmness. We prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and to give the family fortitude.”
