Spirit and Life Devotional: God Hates Oppression And Injustice

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

“And perhaps the Lord will see that I am being wronged and will bless me because of these curses today.” 2 Samuel 16:12 NLT

When God gave the Israelites the Law, He said to them, “You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way. Remember, you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. You must not exploit a widow or an orphan. If you exploit them in any way and they cry out to me, then I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will blaze against you, and I will kill you with the sword. Then your wives will be widows and your children fatherless.” Exodus 22:21‭-‬24

In Genesis 29:31, the Bible says that, “When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, he enabled her to have children, but Rachel could not conceive.”

All through the Bible we see God, again and again, standing up for the weak, the helpless and the oppressed. And that’s what God expects us to do as His children. Psalm 82:3-4 says, “Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people.” We will be blessed as we do, in Jesus name. Amen.
