Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

“What if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us?” Psalms 124:2

When things happen to us, or when we find ourselves in unpleasant situations, we begin to ask God questions, and it seems to us that God is not with us. We often do not realize that things could have been worse if God was not on our side.

Maybe your like Job; you’ve lost everything and you’re afflicted with boils; but you’re still alive; it could have been worse!

Maybe you’re like Peter; imprisoned by Herod; and you’re wondering why you’re in such a terrible place. Peter, remember that James was beheaded only a few weeks ago: but you’re still alive; it could have been worse.

Did you lose your job? Thank God you didn’t lose your leg! No food to eat? Thank God you have a place to sleep! Brothers and sisters, there’s always something to be grateful for! It could have been worse if God was not on your side.

And I have good news for you today! It is getting better! Deliverance is coming! Help is coming! Solution is coming! Your miracle is on the way! As long as you are alive, the best is yet to come! Say Amen!

Prophetic Declaration

I choose to rejoice despite what has happened; it could have been worse but God delivered me. I won’t be here for too long; my best days are ahead; the best is yet to come; things are getting better!
