Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

We often don’t cherish what we have until we lose it. Peace is taken for granted until there is war. And Christians must understand that whatever happens in a location is likely to affect them, the church, and the work of the ministry. In a place where there’s curfew, for instance, movement is restricted. Guess what happens immediately: there would be no more church activities in the evenings, and life in general would be disrupted.

We can complain all day, but if we are not praying we are failing, and we would be responsible for the problems caused by our prayerlessness. We are called Watchmen! A Christian cannot hate a particular leader or government: whether we dislike them and their policies it’s our duty to pray for them. And then we can remove or keep them in office with our votes. A lot of us don’t seem to believe in the power of prayer: if we did we would pray more and talk less.

We are still living in this world! You may say that whatever happens here doesn’t concern you, but you still have to buy things from the markets of the world and there’s no special price for angels, that’s if you’re one.

We must pray in obedience to the word. God will answer and change things as we do. Amen.

Happy Sunday!
