Spirit And Life Devotional: Entering The King’s Gate

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

[pull_quote_center]”He went as far as the front of the king’s gate, for no one might enter the king’s gate clothed with sackcloth.” Esther 4:2[/pull_quote_center]

Whenever they were mourning in those days, they tore their clothes, wore sackclothes, and put dust or ashes on their heads. That was a sign of mourning and humility, and that’s what Mordecai did when he heard about the evil plan against his people.

But notice that Mordecai couldn’t enter into the king’s gate dressed in sackcloth. It was a decree; no matter how sad and angry or depressed they were, they had to look good before the king! You see, it mattered how they appeared before the king.

It also matters how we appear before the King of kings and the Lord of lords! Psalm 100:2 and 4 says, “Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”

Irrespective of what’s going on and how you feel, yes you can always carry your problems and challenges to God, but learn to go before Him with the right attitude. Why? Because He’s a great God, and He has the power to help you.

Thank God for bringing us to the end of the month. He’s been good! You’re blessed. Amen.
