Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

“Who ‘will render to each one according to his deeds.’” Romans 2:6

Payday is the very exciting and wonderful day that salaries and wages are paid; the day when workers are adequately or inadequately compensated for their services; usually at the end of the month. Even dependants look forward to payday when they’ll receive their share of a worker’s salary.

Just as workers expect payday to come, we should also expect the judgement day of God to come; that’s going to be the biggest payday ever; everyone of us will stand before the judgement seat of Christ to receive rewards for what we did while here on earth.

Apostle Paul wrote, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” II Timothy 4:7‭-‬8.

What’s your own reward going to be? I don’t think that there’ll be much surprises on that day; it’s going to be strictly based on our deeds. Everything you’re doing here for Jesus and for the kingdom of God is what will speak for you: fulfilment of your purpose, your service, your giving, soul winning, your love for others and your good works. God is not a respecter of persons: we’re going to get exactly what we deserve. Paul fought. Do your best!
