Spirit And Life Devotional: The Promise Of Forgiveness

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

[pull_quote_center]”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9[/pull_quote_center]

A Christian should not sin, but a Christian may sin. When a Christian sins, he shouldn’t be proud of his sin, he should be sorry for his sin, and should repent of his sin.

God promises to forgive us if we confess our sins. Confession is a verbal acknowledgement of our sins. Confession is accepting responsibility for our sins. And through confession we humble ourselves before the Lord. David said, “I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,’ and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah” Psalms 32:5

When God forgives, He forgets! In other words, He won’t judge us for sins He has forgiven, neither will He ever use them against us. Psalm 103:12 says that, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Once you confess your sins, you receive the promise of forgiveness, you are restored to a perfect state of righteousness, and you are forever set free from that sin. Hallelujah!
