Spirit And Life Devotional: Saving In Heaven’s Bank

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

[pull_quote_center]”But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:20 [/pull_quote_center]

Just as there are earthly banks and bank accounts, there is a heavenly bank and spiritual accounts. And just like your physical accounts, it’s you who determines how full or empty your account is.

Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippian brethren, “Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.” Philippians 4:17. He obviously wasn’t referring to an earthly bank account. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 says, “Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”

So, how buoyant is your heavenly account? Are you rich on earth and also rich in heaven? Is your spiritual account active or dormant? When was the last time you deposited treasures into it? How do you make deposits? Through giving: doing good works, giving for kingdom works, and of course, giving to ministers of the gospel and to other believers. God bless you as you do. Amen.
