When you worry, you’re thinking about actual or potential problems. I’m sure we all know what it means to worry; it’s something we do! But God doesn’t want us being worried; He wants us to simply trust Him.
God is alive! God is able, and He is willing to help us: when we are worried we really don’t think so; we worry because we are not sure that God is capable of helping us; we worry because in our minds our problems are greater than God’s ability, or maybe He won’t show up on time: He’s probably too slow, too lazy, or uninterested in our cases.
Once, when Martin Luther was so depressed that none of wife’s counsel would help, she put on a black dress. He noticed it and asked, ‘Are you going to a funeral?’ ‘No,’ she replied, ‘but since you act like God is dead, I wanted to join you in your mourning.’ Luther got the message and recovered.
I wish that we would all get the message today and recover from the unpleasant effects of our worrying. God is never late. He’s at work even when we can’t see Him. Tomorrow will be fine!
