Death is always associated with sin: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).

We were dead in sins, but now, in Christ, we are dead to sin (Romans 6:2). Notice the important difference: in the past we were dead in sin, now we are dead to sin. Sin no longer excites us; it no longer controls us; and it no longer interests us. We have been freed from sin! “For he who has died has been freed from sin.” (Romans 6:7)

We shouldn’t be battling with sins because we have died to it. We must have this consciousness in us that we are not at war with sin! Once we get it, we begin to live in victory. Jesus destroyed the works of the devil (sin), that’s why the apostle John declared with all seriousness that, “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.” I John 3:9. Yes, we can’t have a habit of sinning because we are dead to sin. Walk in liberty from today, in Jesus name. Amen.
