Pandemonium broke out in the Agbor community of Delta state after a tenant murdered his landlord in cold blood because of his (the landlord’s ) incessant demand of house rent payment from him.

The man simply identified as Winifred, aged 41 from Ebonyi state was subsequently nabbed by the police over the weekend.

Upon interrogation, he confessed to have committed the crime because he was highly provoked at the rate the deceased landlord made the demand from him.

The suspect further disclosed that the landlord had threatened to kill him if he refused to pay up which resulted in an argument and escalated further into a scuffle.

It was during the fight that the tenant reached for a hard object and hit his landlord so hard that he could not survive the attack and died instantly.

According to Leadership, the suspect incurred a debt of seven months rent and paid for two months, promising to pay the remaining months but never kept to his promise.

The incident was confirmed by the state police public relations officer, DSP Celestine Kālu, who said that Winifred killed his landlord with a dangerous object.

Kalu further stated that the suspect had admitted to committing the crime after he was arrested by police operatives in his escape bid.

Th suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded, according to the police spokesperson.
