Think You Have A Healthy Brain? Answer This Question

Must read

How long can you stand on one leg?

According to Metro UK, the answer to that question may tell you how well your brain is functioning and how susceptible you are to suffering a stroke.

A group of scientists from University of Tokyo led by Yasuharu Tabara, embarked on a study recently and asked over 1,300 men and women with an average age of 67 to stand on one leg with their eyes open.

From the experiment, about one third of the study group found it difficult to balance for 20 seconds or longer and the people under this category had the worst cognitive function test scores as well as the highest prevelance of cerebral small vessel disease and the most minute haemorrhages, which correspond to the likelihood of suffering a stroke.

Tabara said, “One-leg standing time is a simple measure of postural instability and might be a consequence of the presence of brain abnormalities.”
