A female driver of an SUV rammed into six children inside a store at Olutimeleyin Street in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State in the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15, 2015.
An 8-year-old girl was killed while five others including three siblings of the deceased, were injured in the crash around 3pm.
An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Vanguard that the female driver of the SUV was on a very high speed when she lost control of the car and swerved into the store.
Passers-by and others who witnessed the incident, reportedly rushed to the scene only to find five of the children bleeding profusely on the floor, while one of them was already dead.
A elderly man n the crowd was sad to have called the policemen from Ejigbo Division who arrived and saved the woman from being lynched by the angry mob.
An ambulance was called and the remains of the dead girl was covered with a wrapper while the wounded children were rushed to Saint Jacobs Hospital nearby for treatment.
The distraught mother wailed uncontrollably at the scene while she gripped the driver of the car.
The owner of the hospital, Dr. Adeyemi, explained that two of the injured victims would have also died if they were not immediately rushed to the hospital.
