Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State has tested negative for COVID-19.
The result of the test, which carried out on the Governor, was released on Monday, April 13, 2020, by the Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control, NCDC.
Since the chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, tested positive about a fortnight ago, there had been apprehension in some quarters in the state over the status of Uzodinma.
In a short statement by the commissioner for information and strategy, Declan Emelumba on Monday, the State Government said the Governor is free of the virus.
The statement reads: “The governor of Imo state Hope Uzodimma has tested negative to the Coronavirus infection.
“The result of a test conducted on him came out this morning and confirmed that he is free of the virus.”
