Van Gaal Calls Van Persie’s Style Of Goal Celebration ‘Stupid’

Must read

Manchester United boss, Louis van Gaal has been reported to have  labelled  Robin van Persie “stupid” after his celebrations in scoring a brilliant late equalizer for Manchester United in their 1-1 draw at Old Trafford to Chelsea, which saw the Dutch striker booked.

Van Gaal seemed to have embraced his fate to fall to a defeat against Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, until van Persie struck in the last seconds of the match at Old Trafford on Sunday, 26 October, 2014 bringing the match to a forceful draw.

Although the saving goal was a relief for LvG, he doesn’t seem too happy with with his Robin van Parsie’s response in celebrating the dramatic goal which got him booked for a yellow card.

Speaking to the press on the outcome of the game, LvG said, “You have seen a stupid reaction after the goal, you can be excited but you don’t have to pull your shirt off. Then you have a yellow card, that is not so smart,” Van Gaal said.

“But yes, we deserved a point. You know that, Jose Mourinho knows that also.

“I said to the boys, it wasn’t our best performance and that’s a pity because in these moments you have to show yourself against the better teams, this result has only left our side 10 points behind Chelsea”, he added

Van Persie became one of nine players that were booked during the match, a surprisingly high figure given the peaceful nature of the contest, to go with Branislav Ivanovic’s red card, for a second yellow, after his foul on Angel di Maria which led to the free-kick that presented van Persie with his chance to equalize.
