WAEC To Blacklist Schools Caught In Exam Malpractice In Plateau

Must read

NAN – The Commissioner for Education in Plateau, Mr Paul Wai, on Friday, warned that any school caught in examination malpractice in the state would be blacklisted.

The commissioner gave the warning while inspecting WAEC centres in Jos, saying the state had zero tolerance for such acts.

Wai, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Secondary Education, Mrs Ruth Biangten, told newsmen during the inspection that the state had no tolerance for anything that would lower its standard of education.

The commissioner, who frowned at examination malpractice, said it had a long time stain on the perpetrators and the society if not tackled immediately.

“Malpractice has destroyed the future of many bright students in higher institutions as they find it difficult to cope with their academics after gaining admission with such unmerited results, “he said.

He, however, expressed satisfaction with the sanitary condition of schools visited and the arrangement of the WAEC examination halls there.

He said an organised environment helped in minimising examination fraud, unlike in years past where halls were congested and very noisy during examinations.

Wai applauded the examination council for providing sufficient examination materials and for ensuring that the examination was concluded fairly.
