The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), national leadership have once again reaffirmed the belief that power would return to them in 2019 general elections.

Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the Chairman of the North-Central sub-committee reaffirmed this belief while addressing journalists at a meeting with party members in the zone held on Monday, July 6, 2015. He also stated that the mistakes made by the PDP in the 2015 would not be repeated as the party was making efforts to correct them and re-program for the 2019 elections to attain victory.

The National Working Committee (NWC), of PDP has set up a post election committee to identify the immediate and remote causes of the party’s woeful loss in the 2015 elections.

The post election committee headed by Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy Senate President, has emphasized on it’s commitment to identify and correct the cause of the party’s poor performance.

According to  Ihedioha, “the party cannot afford to lose in some states elections including Kogi State, which is expected to hold next year.”

Ihedioha also explained that the committee was set up to address post election grievances, the reason for the party’s loss amongst other issues.

He also noted that the PDP needed to tighten it’s belt as some governorship elections were around the corner and reiterated that the party could not afford to lose those elections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as it previously done.
