I Will Sack Enrique, Barca’s President, Bartomeu Assures Messi

Barcelone’s President, Josep Bartomeu has assured he will sack Barcelona boss,Luis Enrique after the clash against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, January 11, 2015 as the Argentine was reported to have requested the appointment of Frank Rijkaard.

Bartomeu and Messi held a meeting on Friday,January 9, 2015 and the outcome reveals that the Barcelona chief informed Messi of his plans, with the Argentine calling for the return of Rijkaard, Spain TV3 show reports.

Luiz Enrique and Lionel Messi has been rumoured to be in a stained relationship after he was dropped for the 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad on Sunday, January 4, 2015.

Rumours have been rife in Catalan media that both the coach and the striker have had a number of confrontations, during training and while in the dressing room, an allegation they have both denied.

According to Goal news, Luis Enrique isn’t expected to last much longer after being booed by sections of the Camp Nou crowd, while Messi received a royal reception on the same pitch, which appears to have confirmed Bartomeu’s plans.

The club’s president is also under pressure himself, following the club’s failure to win an appeal over a ban on transfers until 2016 and the subsequent sacking of sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta on Friday, January 2, 2015.

Carles Puyol also resigned from his role at the club, before Bartomeu made known the decision to hold a presidential election in the summer, one year ahead of schedule, amid rumours former chief Joan Laporta could launch a campaign to return to his former role.
