Police operatives in Clearwater command, Florida had arraigned a 33-year old woman identified as, Melissa Dawn Sellers and charged her with assault for reportedly putting her 42-year old boyfriend on fire because he threw her meat and spaghetti away in the wee hours of Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
It was learnt that the attacker had poured nail polish remover on Carlos Ortiz Jr during a serious dispute between the duo emanating from her meat and spaghetti that Oritz poured away.
According to reports, Sellers set him on fire with a cigarette lighter which the duo had earlier used to smoke some cigarettes before the argument started.
The two drank alcohol before the fire incident, police said. The man suffered burns to the face, chest and shoulders.
Oritz who sustained serious degree of injuries resulting from the fire was taken to the Tampa General Hospital, where his condition was reported to be critical.
Meanwhile, before police operatives could arrive the scene, Sellers had already fled the scene of the event for her grandfather’s house was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, and charged with aggravated assault.
