Buhari Continues Lopsided Appointments As Aliyu Azizi Is Named NIMC Director General

Must read

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, November 23, 2015 appointed Engr. Aliyu Azizi, as the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) with immediate effect.

The development was communicated in a statement by Abdul-Hamid Umar, the NIMC General Manager, Corporate Communications in Abuja.

According to the statement, Azizi’s appointment was as a result of the expiration of the tenure of Mr. Chris Onyemenam as the DG/CEO of NIMC.

Buhari has come under intense criticism for favouring the Northern part of the country in his appointments since he returned as a democratically elected president. According to analysts, over 75% of his appointment have been northerners and almost entirely Muslims.

This divisive policies of the president have led to increased calls for secession from various regions in the country. The renewed calls for the creation of Biafra from the South East region of Nigeria is largely attributed to the parochial policies of the Buhari regime
