Road To ‘5 Million Votes’: Police Intercept 14 Sacks Of Fake Ballot Papers In Kano (PHOTO)

Barely hours to the 2019 Presidential election, the Kano Police Command on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, arrested two male suspects in possession of 14 sacks of fake ballot papers.

Briefing journalists at the Bompai Police Headquarters, the Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, explained that the two suspects were picked within Kano metropolis by men on patrol.

According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the fake ballot papers was on transit to Jigawa state.

Haruna said the content of the seizure as “specimen meant to enlighten voters”, adding that the suspects are been detained to unravel how it came about in Kano.

Haruna said: “What we seized in Kano was indeed a 14 sacks of specimen of ballot papers and we are detaining the two suspects behind the seizure for further investigation.”

Displaying the specimen after choosing randomly from the seized sacks before journalists, Haruna said: “You can see specimen clearly written in vertical line to assuage your curiosity that what we have here is not genuine ballot papers.

The PPRO stated that the Commissioner of police, Wakil Muhammad has since directed the CID to carry out comprehensive investigation to ascertain reasons behind the seizure.
