Two persons were said to have died when two rival cult groups clashed in Mowe-Ofada area of Ogun State.

The clash erupted on Thursday, May 19, 2022, and it snowballed into a full-blown crisis on Friday.

It was learnt that a young man was killed yesterday evening, while the other was slain in the early hours of today.

Traders in the Obafemi Local Government community were in a panic mood as many of them refused to open shops on Friday.

A source had explained that the people of the community on Friday, May 20, 2022, woke up to find a corpse around the Mowe.

“We are being careful. Many of us are yet to open our shops. Everywhere is scanty. Two people were killed at Adesan and Onibode junction,” a source had said.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi has confirmed the incident.

Oyeyemi, however, disclosed that one person had been arrested in connection with the clash.

According to him, the police in Ogun State have commenced investigations to unravel the cause of the melee.

While saying normalcy has been restored in the area, Oyeyemi urged residents to go about their normal businesses.
