‘Stop attacking opponents’ – Peter Obi Cautions Supporters

Peter Obi, a former Anambra State Governor, has called for decorum as the 2023 political season hots up.

On Sunday, May 29, 2022, Obi said he observed that some of his supporters were engaging in condemnation of other aspirants and candidates.

The presidential aspirant advised all to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and avoid name-calling or personal attacks.

He wrote, “It has been brought to my attention, and I have also observed that some of my numerous supporters are making personal attacks on other aspirants/candidates.

“Whilst thanking you for your support, which I sincerely value and appreciate, I humbly appeal that we all imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and avoid name-calling or personal attacks on other aspirants and candidates.

“The common goal is to make Nigeria better. Elections are a democratic contest and need not be adversarial.”

The former banker dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, days before the national convention which ended Saturday night.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar emerged as the presidential candidate of the leading opposition platform.
