2023: Wike Remains In PDP But Not Working For Atiku [DETAILS]

Must read

The rift between the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and the 2023 presidential flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP may be far from over recent information made available to Politics Nigeria indicates.

A reliable source and close associate of the Governor disclosed that wike has resolved not to leave the party as he was a major stakeholder in it but completely ruled out any possibility of working for the former Vice-President.

Wike and Atiku have been on a war path ever since the latter refused to select the former as his running mate. Despite getting 14 recommendations from the 17-member panel set up by the party leadership to search for a Vice-Presidential candidate, Wike who came second in the presidential primaries was still rejected by Atiku who opted for Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.

The party has since been polarised as many members and stakeholders loyal to Wike have practically stayed away from party activities including campaigns in the just concluded Osun governorship elections which the party won.

Most recently, Atiku during an interview on Arise TV admitted that there were issues between him and Rivers strongman but stated that it was his prerogative to choose his running mate. He added that he was already working to solve the issues.

However, in a swift response, Wike stated that he will open up on the crisis rocking the party. He threatened to reveal some secrets in the party.

He pointed out that it had become pertinent for him to speak and reveal to Nigerians all that has transpired in the party since Atiku’s emergence.
