NAN – A 33-year-old driver, Tunde Azeez, who was charged with stabbing another to death using a broken bottle to death, on Monday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused, whose address was not disclosed in court, is facing trial on a charge of conspiracy-to-murder of one Lukmon Ayedun.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 3, at about 8.42 p.m., at Alakoso Road, Amuwo Odofin, a suburb of Lagos state.
He said that the accused and the deceased, Ayedun, had a brawl over an undisclosed amount. The prosecutor alleged that Azeez had stabbed Ayedun with a broken bottle which led to his death.
Eruada said that the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. NAN reports that the section prescribes a life sentence for offenders.
Magistrate M.O. Tanimola did not take the plea of the accused. Tanimola said that the accused should be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons’ custody pending the receipt of a legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs).
She then adjourned the case till June 24.
