TRAGIC: 5 Dead, 9 Injured In Auto Crash Along Lagos–Ibadan Expressway

About five persons died while nine others were injured in a road accident when the white Toyota Hiace bus conveying them crashed on to a side of the Lagos – Ibadan expressway.

The fatal crash which occurred on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at the Danco Filling station stretch of the highway, involved 14 people comprising 10 males and four females – all adults.

Clement Oladele, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, sector commander, Ogun State sector Command, identified “speed violation” as the suspected cause of the accident involving the bus marked LSR 642 XB.

Oladele in release by the route commander and public education officer of the corps; Florence Okpe, said the injured were rescued to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, OOUTH, Sagamu while the remains of the dead were kept at the same Hospital’s Morgue.

The FRSC Sector Commander Ogun State Command who condoled with the victims’ families, advised the public whose relations travelled in the Ill – fated bus to contact the FRSC Command in Sagamu or the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, OOUTH, Sagamu, for details on the crash .

He also enjoined motorists to drive cautiously within the recommended speed of 50 kilometers per hour at construction sites while passengers in vehicles driven recklessly should also caution their driver.

According to him, where such driver refuses to heed to caution, the passenger should call the FRSC toll free number 122.
