LOS ANGELES, United States — “Widow’s Bay” won six prizes at the 78th Emmy Awards on Monday, September 14, 2026.
Matthew Rhys collected two lead-actor awards and established two Emmy records.
The freshman comedy received outstanding comedy series, lead actor, supporting actor, supporting actress, directing, and writing.
The Television Academy listed it as the most successful programme during the televised ceremony.
Rhys was honoured as outstanding lead actor in a comedy for “Widow’s Bay” and outstanding lead actor in a limited series or television film for Netflix’s “The Beast in Me.”
He became the first performer to win two lead-actor categories in the same year.
The victories also made Rhys the first performer to win lead-acting Emmys across the drama, comedy, and limited-series categories. His earlier drama award came for “The Americans.”
“The Pitt,” which entered the ceremony with the most nominations, won outstanding drama series. Its star also received the award for lead actor in a drama.
“DTF St. Louis” was named outstanding limited series, while “Pluribus” secured awards for lead actress in a drama and drama writing.
Jean Smart won outstanding lead actress in a comedy for “Hacks.” The victory made Smart the first woman to receive the lead-actress award for every season of a programme’s run.
Awards in the supporting categories went to performers from “Widow’s Bay,” “Task,” and “The Diplomat.” “The Traitors” won outstanding reality or competition series, and “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” was named outstanding variety series.
