Peter Obi Congratulates Abia State Governor-Elect Alex Otti On Election Victory

Must read

ABIA STATE, NIGERIA – Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), has congratulated Alex Otti, the newly-elected Governor of Abia State, on his recent gubernatorial election. Obi expressed his satisfaction with the electoral process, stating that the people’s wishes had been respected.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Alex Otti the winner of the gubernatorial election on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Otti, the LP governorship candidate in Abia State, defeated his closest competitor, Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by securing 175,467 votes, while Ahiwe received 88,529 votes.

In response to Otti’s victory, Peter Obi took to Twitter to offer his congratulations and prayers for the Governor-elect. Obi’s tweet read:

“A while ago, I spoke with my brother, Dr. Alex Otti @alexottiofr, the Governor-elect of Abia State and heartily congratulated him on his election. I am gratified that the will and wish freely expressed by the Abia electorates have been respected. I pray for God’s guidance and protection for the incoming Governor of God’s Own State. -PO”

The victory of Alex Otti as the Governor-elect of Abia State marks a significant turnaround for the Labour Party, which had not secured any elected positions in the 2019 elections.

With this triumph, the Labour Party has made notable strides in the political landscape, as they now have a governor, eight senators, thirty-four House of Representative members, and sixty-eight House of Assembly members in their ranks.

This remarkable progress highlights the party’s growing influence and the electorate’s renewed confidence in the Labour Party as a viable force in Nigerian politics.

The resurgence of the Labour Party can largely be attributed to Peter Obi, a two-term former governor of Anambra State, who joined the party just nine months before the February 25 presidential election.

As a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, Obi’s decision to join the Labour Party brought significant attention and credibility to the party.

His leadership, strategic vision, and ability to rally support have played a crucial role in transforming the Labour Party into a competitive force within the Nigerian political landscape.
