The three-year-old black Labrador suffers from a string of allergies from meat to milk and dust mites to grass.
Her owner, Karen Stanfield, 27, of Edinburgh, has to cook her pet vegetarian meals and make sure her home is spotless to avoid upsetting Ruby’s delicate nose.
Ruby even has to take Piriton to keep her hay fever at bay.
Karen said: ‘At first I thought she had an infection – she was always itchy, she had no energy and she struggled to go out for walks.
‘She looked like a neglected dog, as if she was starving, and I couldn’t find the cause.
‘It wasn’t until Ruby’s vet did the sensitest that we realised it was allergies causing all her problems.’
