The African Action Congress, AAC, has suspended Omoyele Sowore as the national chairman of the party.
This development was announced by the party’s national executive committee at the end of its meeting in Abuja, on Monday, May 13, 2019.
Mr. Sowore, the publisher of citizens reporter website, SaharaReporters, contested Nigeria’s 2019 presidential election on the platform of the AAC, casting his vote at RCM Primary School, Apoi Ward II, Unit 005 in Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The party accused Sowore of alleged involvement in anti-party activities, financial misappropriation as well as failure to convene NEC meeting.
The party’s NEC also appointed and swore in Leonard Nzenwa as the new acting national chairman.
Also, suspended by the party are members of Sowore’s executive team.
Reports by Channels TV further reveal the suspension takes effect from March 27 and it is to last for six months except overturned by a National Convention of the party.
