‘Akwa Ibom people are focused… ‘ – Governor Udom Says 2 New Industries Are Underway

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has expressed confidence in the Nigerian judiciary in ensuring justice and fairplay in the handling of electoral matters in line with the Constitution that makes provision for the existence of multi-party system in the country.

Mr. Emmanuel said this will help democracy in the country to grow and meet the standard of other civilized democracies.

The governor, who was addressing a crowd of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithfuls who gathered to receive him at the Globe Square, Wellington Bassey Way in solidarity with him on the judgment of the Akwa Ibom State Governorship election tribunal said “Let me tell Akwa Ibom people that we have absolute confidence in the judiciary. Nigeria operates a multi-party system and we must allow the Constitution to hold sway. Today Akwa Ibom people are focused and we are moving towards the promise land.”

Governor Emmanuel announced that two more industries are under way and grounds breaking are to be performed by next week. He mentioned the industries to include a Metre assembly plant and new line for marine paint at Peacock Paint Industry. He said his commitment to industrialization was on course and cannot be deterred as the will of God has been expressed by the people in their overwhelming vote for the PDP which is a household name in Akwa Ibom State.

He thanked the people for their continuous support and assured them of his implicit confidence in the judiciary for justice and equity, adding that democracy would be sweeter if the multi-party system is allowed to thrive in the constitution of the country.

The Governor pointed out that his administration is committed to executing the industrialization blueprint, which would translate to creation of jobs for the youths and generating wealth for the total wellbeing of the people.

In their solidarity speeches, the State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo said the Party is a household name in Akwa Ibom State and that the mandate freely given to Mr. Udom Emmanuel by Akwa Ibom people is sacrosanct as any other party is alien in the State.

Also the Director General Divine Mandate 2015, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga commended the people for their solidarity for the governor, and called on the political elders not to misconstrue party partisanship for statesmanship.

On his part, the Chairman Accord Party, Mr. Joe Itiaba congratulated Governor Udom Emmanuel for his victory, stating that the people were yearning for a leader in the mold of Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

Mr. Itiaba maintained that Governor Emmanuel’s achievements within the short period defies party divide, hence everybody who has the State at heart must support Governor Udom irrespective of party affiliation.
