Jehovah Witness Warns Members To Boycott Voting In General Election

Must read

The authorities of the Jehovah’s Witnesses has warned the members of the church to steer clear from participating in the general elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 14, 2015.

By implication, anyone caught participating would be severely punished by being excommunicated from the church.

One of the ministers, James Uduok, stated that the entire members of the church believe the electoral process was satanic and against the will of God.

In line with the belief, the church had issued a serious warning to it’s members to avoid obtaining a voter’s card let alone voting.

When members of the church were questioned, they agreed with the directive saying they are still waiting for the kingdom of God that is yet to be established on earth.

They backed their decision not to participate in the electoral process with scripture; Mathew 6:9 and Mathew 4:8.

Uduok added that the teachings of the church was strongly embedded in the Bible and it is either the members adhere strictly to the doctrine or leave the congregation. This development had been greeted with several criticisms and reactions from non-members of the church who found the belief awkward.

A cleric from an unnamed church, Pastor Jude Chukwurah said, “God recognises leadership and authority of leaders in the society.”

He added that there was clamour for leadership even in the Bible, and the people elected their leaders.

Another pastor, Michael James, said the teachings of the Witnesses are contradictory to the dictates of the Bible.
