The country home of former President Goodluck Jonathan at Otuoke, Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state was attacked by gunmen at 1 am on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.
A source, a relative of the former president, confirmed confirmed the incident to The Trent.
He said soldiers stationed around the residence of the former president repelled the intruders.
“The story is true. The attack took place at Otuaba, a neighbouring community to Otueke.
“The security outpost is about 45 meters from Jonathan’s house. A soldier was killed during the gun fire exchange,” he told The Trent.
The gunmen, reportedly, made an attempt to snatch a gunboat around the area which is near a creek.
Residents of Otueke is currently fleeing the community for safety in Yenagoa.
