In a significant shake-up, the Nigerian Army has announced the redeployment of 75 of its senior officers, with changes taking effect from April 3, 2023, an exclusive report by PR Nigeria reveals.
Among those affected are Maj. Gen. Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in the Lake Chad region and Maj. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 1 Division, Kaduna.
Gen. Khalifa will be leaving MNJTF for a secondment to the National Center for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Meanwhile, Gen. Lagbaja will be departing the 1 Division to serve as Chief of Operation DAOP at the Army Headquarters. Major General Olufemi Akinjobi, the current Chief of Operations, Nigerian Army, will assume the role of GOC 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna.
Additionally, Major General Gold Chibuisi, a Director to the Chief of Army Staff in Abuja, will take over as the Theatre Commander MNJTF.
Both Lagbaja and Khalifa have been praised for their courageous leadership and contributions to the successes against armed bandits, terrorists, and cattle rustlers in the region.
