Lawyer to detained separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu has been sacked.
Kanu’s wife, Mrs. Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, broke the news in a statement issued from her London base.
She said the decision was taken “in a meeting of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) held on Saturday the 9th of January 2016 at Forest Gate in East London.”
“It was unanimously decided that Mr. Vincent Obetta must drop out of this case for a combination of reasons I am reluctant to disclose in this letter for legal reasons,” Mrs. Okwu-Kanu said in the statement dated January 14, 2016.
She announced the appointment of a new lawyer in the person of “Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor to represent my husband in the case of SSS vs Nnamdi Kanu.”
Nnamdi Kanu, who is also the Director of Radio Biafra, was arrested 91 days ago and has remained detained by the Department of State Service (DSS) despite court orders for his release.
