Columbus Short is leaving his hit ABC series Scandal.

The 37-year-old confirmed that he is in fact exiting the show in a public statement, as insiders claim the actor was fired by the network due to domestic violence allegations lodged by his wife Tuere Tanee McCall.

McCall was granted a restraining order against Short following accusations that he tried to kill her, and she has since filed for divorce.

Sources connected with ABC says it’s because the network decided to give him the axe over allegations of domestic violence.

Columbus just released this statement:  “At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble in television today.”

Short goes on: “Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas.  I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast.”

Short story… it would appear Harrison ate the bullet that was aimed at him in the season finale.

Short’s wife just got a restraining order against him after he allegedly put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.  He’s also been charged in connection with another incident with domestic violence and child abuse.  He was arrested for yet another incident of alleged domestic abuse.  And he was arrested recently for allegedly knocking out a guest at a Los Angeles bar.

Short’s full statement published on Entertainment Weekly is published below:

“At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank [creator] Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.”
