Bollywood Star Tiger Shroff Survives Mumbai Gun Attack as 2 Others Are Injured

Must read

MUMBAI, India — Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff has survived a shooting in Mumbai without sustaining any gunshot wounds, Indian police have confirmed.

Two other people, including the 36-year-old actor’s driver, were injured when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in the city’s Juhu neighbourhood on Sunday evening, October 18, 2026.

Police have detained three suspects in connection with the shooting, although the motive remains under investigation.

According to the BBC, the attack occurred as Shroff was leaving a football ground in the affluent suburb.

Gunmen approached his vehicle and fired several shots at close range while the car was moving slowly through a crowd.

Video footage circulating online appeared to show armed attackers firing towards the vehicle before fleeing.

Driver and Another Motorist Injured

Mumbai police identified Shroff’s injured driver as Firdaus, who sustained an injury to his left hand.

Another man, identified by police as Chauhan, was also injured. Both were taken for medical treatment.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg confirmed that Shroff was safe and that investigators had been deployed to establish the circumstances of the attack.

Police formed 15 investigative teams, including officers from the Mumbai Crime Branch, to identify those responsible.

Forensic specialists examined the scene and the actor’s vehicle, while investigators reviewed CCTV recordings from nearby locations.

Shroff’s father, veteran Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, also confirmed that his son had survived the attack.

Three Suspects Detained as Police Investigate Gang Claim

Three suspects were subsequently detained in the Indian state of Rajasthan, according to Agence France-Presse.

Police official Tejaswani Gautam said preliminary questioning established that two of the suspects had previous cases recorded against them, involving alleged theft and an offence under India’s Arms Act.

Investigators are also examining an online claim of responsibility attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a criminal organisation previously linked to threats against Bollywood celebrities.

Police have not established the claim’s authenticity or confirmed that the gang was responsible.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to Shroff following the shooting and instructed police to pursue those responsible.

The incident has renewed concerns about attacks targeting prominent figures in Mumbai’s film industry.

In April 2024, gunmen fired shots outside the Mumbai residence of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, an incident investigated by police as part of a wider series of threats against the actor.

Shroff, whose birth name is Jai Hemant Shroff, made his Bollywood debut in the 2014 film Heropanti.

He subsequently became one of India’s prominent action-film actors, appearing in the Baaghi franchise and the 2019 blockbuster War.

Police have not announced formal charges against the three suspects detained over Sunday’s shooting.
