‘Compared To Obasanjo, Buhari Is Nothing!’ – Femi Fani-Kayode Comes Blazing [TWEETS]

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister and leading opposition figure in Nigeria, has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for his attack on former President Olusegun Obasanjo over an alleged $16 billion expense on power project during the latter’s administration between 1999 and 2007.

In a set of tweets, the fiery writer and politician praised his former boss, President Obasanjo and said that there is no basis for comparing the two men.

“Obasanjo was in power from 1976 to 1979. He did very well and he handed over power to a democratically elected government,” Chief Fani-Kayode wrote on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

“Buhari toppled that government in 1983 and terrorised and killed Nigerians for two years until he himself was removed in a military coup by his colleagues in the army.

“Obasanjo was elected president in 1999 and remained in power till 2007. He did exceptionally well, repaired and strengthen our economy, built up our foreign reserves, paid off our foreign debts, restored our pride and reputation in the international community and so much more.

“Buhari was elected president in 2015 and divided the country, destroyed our economy, preached hatred, presided over genocide, stole money and hunted his perceived enemies like animals.

“Buhari is not 10 per cent of the man that Obasanjo is. When compared to Obasanjo. Buhari is nothing.”

Minions in the Buhari regime had alluded to alleged fraud in power project expense by the Obasanjo administration. The former president, and now leading opposition figure to Buhari’s 2nd term bid, responded by saying that the president doesn’t read and had his facts mixed up.

Obasanjo said he was ready to be probed by Buhari and he also dared Buhari, who served as a petroleum minister under him, to probe him.

Fani-Kayode was the special assistant (Public Affairs) to President Olusegun Obasanjo from July 2003 until June 2006. He was the minister of culture and tourism of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from June 22nd to Nov 7th 2006 and as the minister of Aviation from Nov 7th 2006 to May 29th 2007.
